mysterious musings
Join us for an unforgettable seasonal workshop where artistry meets nature. Hone your skills in creating an arrangement that captures the ephemeral beauty of Fall and the witching season. The workshop begins with a floral demonstration led by Justin Reis of the eponymous flower studio. Explore a selection of seasonal florals and locally sourced produce, such as gourds, corn, and pumpkins, to create fall-inspired arrangements. Justin will guide you through building anchor arrangements, selecting blooms, and composing your design in new, inventive ways. Enchant your guests and crown your home with your takeaway centerpiece and ideas.
Following Justins’ workshop, Todd will introduce techniques for working with dried flowers and foraged botanicals to create a beautiful small halloween wreath. This blend of living and dried elements will uncover the subtle beauty and quiet spookiness of the season.
The day begins with a talk, demo, and hands-on crafting in our Sun Room, followed by a harvest-inspired light lunch. An important part of the discussion will revolve around what exactly makes something feel macabre and why. After lunch, we'll explore styled vignettes throughout the Arkwood House, covering essential styling techniques and how to achieve an elevated, mysterious atmosphere without relying on clichés.
We'll finish the workshop by using leftover materials to create additional decorative pieces, and you'll leave with inspiration for future creative projects.
You'll learn to view the table as a cohesive composition, balancing scale, color, and texture to craft visually captivating displays. Dive into the beauty of nature using locally sourced and foraged materials, including those from the Knoll, and allow the character of each element to shine.
All materials are provided, ensuring you have everything you need to embrace your creativity and elevate your floral design and styling skills.
